All you need to do is define the event name you want to track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>window.clarity(&#8220;event&#8221;, &#8220;&lt;onboarding event here&gt;&#8221;)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also associate sessions with individual users using Clarity\u2019s <strong>custom user ID<\/strong> capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>window.clarity(&#8220;identify&#8221;, &#8220;&lt;user ID here&gt;&#8221;)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Use Custom Tags Creatively<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Although <strong>Custom Tags<\/strong> are primarily for page-level attributes, you can use them to add event properties. For example, we track:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Business type (fashion designer vs. cobbler)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sign-up method (social login or form)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>User role (account owner vs. invited team member)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This gives richer insights into onboarding behaviors and allows better segmentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Measuring Activation and User Friction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Onboarding is just the start. The next step is <strong>activation<\/strong>: the behaviours that show a user is genuinely investing effort into using your product. These actions will vary depending on your SaaS product, but they usually represent moments where a user starts experiencing real value or making the investment to enjoy that value later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Counts as Activation?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Activation actions vary by product, but often include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Creating the first project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inviting a team member<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Uploading data<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Completing a setup process<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connecting an integration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The type of activation event you track and the timeframe you expect users to complete it in depends entirely on your product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the activation action is something users are expected to complete quickly after signing up (for example, within the first 30 minutes) and it\u2019s relatively simple, then it\u2019s worth tracking closely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Track Friction Signals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Tracking activation alone isn\u2019t enough. You should also monitor user struggles.
