As AI-powered search and chat experiences cite more websites as sources, individual citation queries can quickly grow into large, unstructured datasets. This makes it difficult to review and organize citation activity at scale.
Clarity now adds topic classification to the AI Citations experience, grouping related grounding queries into a smaller set of automatically generated topics. This helps you review citation data at the topic level and more easily navigate large sets of queries without manually sorting them.
Understanding AI Visibility Through Topics
Organizing AI citation queries by topic is becoming an important way to understand how content appears in AI-generated answers. Recently, Bing Webmaster Tools introduced Topics, helping site owners organize AI citation queries into predefined topic categories for easier analysis.
Query Topics in Clarity takes a more granular approach by automatically grouping related grounding queries based on the citation activity associated with your project. For example, a broad topic like “Sports” may be broken down into more specific themes like “Winter Skiing” or other query patterns that emerge from your AI citation data. This helps you understand the specific areas where your content is being surfaced and how AI systems are connecting your site with different topics.
Query Topics also complements Topic Insights, another AI Visibility capability recently added to Clarity. While Topic Insights helps teams proactively evaluate visibility and opportunities around the topics they define, Query Topics helps them understand the themes already driving citations for their site.
Together, these experiences help answer two different questions: Where is my site currently earning visibility in AI experiences? and where are the biggest opportunities to improve?
What’s New

The dashboard now emphasizes the metrics that best reflect visibility and authority while making large query sets easier to browse, filter, and export.
- Topics card in the dashboard: Query topics now surface directly in AI Citations, helping you understand the main themes your domain is being cited for allowing you to filter and dive deeper into the queries that matter the most.
- Topic-level performance metrics: Each topic includes key measures such as citation count and share of authority, so you can quickly identify where your strongest visibility is concentrated and where you’re under performing.
- Topic list with deeper analysis: Filter by a dedicated list of topics and compare share of authority and page-level citation distribution across themes to find high-impact content areas and emerging opportunities.
- Export support: Download topic-level data for reporting, sharing, or deeper analysis outside the dashboard.
These changes are designed to help you answer a simpler question faster: What themes are driving AI citations for my site, and where is my content earning authority? You can now evaluate performance by theme, compare topic strength, and connect those insights to the pages and queries behind them.
Query Topics is available in beta as part of the broader AI Visibility experience in Clarity, with additional enhancements and expanded insights planned for upcoming releases.
